Putin Makes a Rare Trip to the United Arab Emirates

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the United Arab Emirates for the first time since the Ukraine and Russia war started back in 2022. The visit was made to strengthen relations with the UAE as well as Saudi  Arabia and to discuss the Israel-Hamas war that has been going on. Russia has been trading partners with both the UAE and Saudi Arabia, but both have remained neutral during the Russia-Ukraine war unwilling to defend the actions of Russia and get behind their mission for the war. According to the UAE's President, Mohammad bin Zayad al-Nahyan, the meeting between nations was to discuss the ties between Russia and the United Arab Emirates and to the importance of strengthening dialogue and cooperation to ensure stability and progress. The two nations confirmed their strong trade connections to each other with Russia saying that the UAE is still the biggest Arab trade partner of theirs and that they will continue to be. With Putin making his first trip to the UAE and only trip out of a few since the Ukraine War started, it is difficult to see what Russia has planned for the future, but time will tell if they strengthen their connections with other countries they trade with.
