The former head of Guinea's 2008 military junta, Moussa Dadis Camara, was recaptured and returned to prison following an apparent jailbreak attempt by a heavily armed commando. The operation also resulted in the capture of two other former officials on the trial for a 2009 massacre during Camara's presidency. The circumstances of Camara's capture were not specified, but it took place after heavily harmed men entered the prison and left with the prisoners. The military described the incident as an attempt to sabotage government reforms and reaffirmed its commitment to the current military-led authorities. There are concerns that Camara may have been kidnapped, and his life could be in danger.
