This week a wildfire started in Eastern Spain as winds of over 75 miles per hour struck the country. This wildfire is coming as a result of the winds from storm Ciaran reached Spain. Authorities have orders over 850 civilians to evacuate towns all around Valencia. Despite the heavy rains that have come with storm Ciaran, Spain has been in a drought for the past 2 years. Due to these conditions, rain water is not absorbed into the ground but rather running off into the Mediterranean making Spain an ideal destination for a wildfire. Due to fire, over 200 firefighters and soldiers have been called to help put out the ongoing blaze. The hope is for planes to fly over and distinguish the flames with water. As of now, 4,900 acres have been burned.
