US and China Leaders Meeting at APEC After a Year

It is no surprise that the US and China have had a rough relationship that have only gotten worse throughout the years. President Biden and China’s President Xi Jinping are set to meet in San Francisco for the APEC Meeting. Neither have met since the G20 meeting in 2022. They will be discussing several hot topics with the aim of helping to mend relations. With the way the world is a decrease in hostility would be a great change however many people are skeptical on the outcome. They claim that there are “high stakes” with “low expectations”. Some topics they will be discussing with be climate change, a crackdown on drugs, stimulation slower economies, and mainly, preventing WWIII. As the meeting comes closer the city of San Francisco has been going through a lot of prep work in trying to clean up and be ready. This is already causing stress on the locals as it is known for its homeless population and as they are being moved out to “showcase the city”.
