United States President Joe Biden told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that the US is sending over a small amount of long-range missiles to help aid the war effort against Russia. This news come from three US officials who were not allowed to come out publicly. They gave no indicator of when the missiles will be sent or when this will be publicly announced. The US has expanded on their willingness to give certain weapons to the Ukraine military since Russia invaded in February of last year. The US originally rejected requests for Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, Howitzer artillery pieces, anti-ship missiles, and HIMARS systems, but have since made them available to send to Ukraine. This comes with President Biden also approving the availability of clusters being sent to Ukraine if needed. Back in May, the United States also agreed to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets. Although, many human rights groups and government officials have pushed back on the clusters since they are considered inhuman and have the risk of not going off and killing innocent civilians after the fighting has ended. Despite this, US has offered the possibility of supplying Ukraine with the what they need to fight back on Russia's advances. This comes after much hesitation from the United States after being worried that supporting the Ukraines would open up the war even more. But the United States has started to help Ukraine more after many European countries offered their support. Ukraine has used many of this support from other countries to push Russian forces back and with the US providing more ammunition to the cause, Ukraine will continue to push Russian forces back and defend their country.
