Iran warns Israel to stop war in Gaza or region will 'go out of control' - BBC News
Iran's foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has
warned Israel and the United States that if Israel continues its attacks on
Gaza, the Middle East situation could get out of hand. According to him, the
ongoing struggle in Gaza is "a proxy war waged by Israel on behalf of the
United States," and US military assistance to Israel is proof of this.
Iran backs Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza, which recently assaulted
Israel.
On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu cautioned that the war was not being overstated and that his country
was engaged in a "do or die" conflict with Hamas. Hezbollah was also
forewarned by him not to join the conflict because doing so would devastate
both their organization and the nation of Lebanon. Defense Secretary Lloyd
Austin warned of the possibility of "significant escalation of
attacks" against US soldiers or citizens as the US has also raised fears
about the violence expanding. According to Amir-Abdollahian, if the war's scope
widens, America will likewise suffer large losses. This was reported by Iranian
official media.
