Up to 600 Americans are Stuck in the Gaza Strip with No Way Out in the Near Future

Ever since the terror attack on October 7th on Israel by Hamas, a militant group in the Gaza Strip that runs their government, Israel has been retaliating with airstrikes and bombings. This is forcing many Palestinians to relocate to different parts of the Gaza Strip and even trying to leave the country despite harsh border security preventing that from happening. Among the Palestinians are around 600 American citizens who were in Gaza when the attacks happened and are now stuck with no way of getting home right now. Many of them are there for different reasons, but their desire to get back to the United States, or even just out of Gaza, is shared with all of them. Of the 600 Americans, many have reached out to the United States government looking for help, but many have only received information about evacuating Israel, not Gaza, making the information useless to them. The United States government said that getting the American citizens out of Gaza is tricky since the two border openings where they could do the evacuations are both closed at the moment and that if they were to open up it would be on very short notice and for limited time. The American citizens stuck in Gaza also have commented on how it is tricky to talk to loved ones and family members to update them on their safety and the plan for the future because of how bad the service is. Not only is the service a problem, but resources in Gaza are not plentiful so the Palestinians along with the American citizens are struggling to get things on a daily basis. The United States has came out and said that they are working to get their citizens out of Gaza and into safety, but the near future does not look promising with no deals being made to open up borders and allow Egypt to take in refugees in order to get them to safety. Until then, the around 600 American citizens remain stuck in Gaza, fearing they might get caught in the crossfire of this Gaza and Israel conflict.
