Latin American presidents gather in Mexico for migration summit
Fernando Abans
Last Sunday 22nd, a Summit took place in southern
Mexico to address the immigration problem that has increased enormously these
past months in the continent. The efforts put in place by the international
community has not been enough to address the complicated and fragile migration
flows that put migration officers in a difficult position not only in the
United States’ borders, but also in every country these migrants cross to get up
here in the north. The summit was attended not only by host country’s
president, Lopez Obrador, but also by Colombian and Venezuelan Presidents,
whose countries entail one of the biggest migration flows to the United States.
In total, a dozen Latin American presidents attended the meeting to find a
solution for this increasing migration flows. The message was clear,
cooperation between all states is needed, even with the U.S.
