Currently across college campus there is protesting going on over the Israel-Gaza War and it’s creating high tensions. Students on college campus’ all over the United States have been having a call to action because of Hamas’ attack on Israel and the ensuing war that is coming in Gaza. These protests are not making the universities very happy and wealthy donors are threatening to pull their funding from the universities. This entire thing has created a debate on freedom of speech and the backlash that is coming. Many students who have been vocal about their thoughts and opinions have faced backlash for the sides they took while many faculty members have been disciplined for their actions. While political related debates on college campuses can be common this one has a significant emotional attachment because of the history and the passions that the conflict strikes. On these college campus’ there are arguments about what is appropriate limits of the freedom of speech. College wants to create a culture of cooperation and encourage students have these strong identities and speak for their views. However, this is hard for colleges with the backlash they are being faced with and the need to create a strong institution for learning first and foremost.
