Ireland's leaders have called for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas conflict and have also made it clear that they support an immediate humanitarian pause to meet the needs of civilians in Gaza. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Michael Martin, has stated that he also unequivocally condemns the Hamas attack on Israel. He has stated that although he believes Israel has the right to defend itself, he does not agree with the ways in which they have proceeded with their actions, and that they have violated humanitarian international law.
