In Myanmar, a camp for displaced people were targeted and killed in an artillery strike. At least 29 people were killed including children. The camp was located close to a military camp, KIA, which is the Kachin Independence Army. This group is fighting the countrys ruling military Junta. The government has been displace for quiet some time since 2021 when the conflict first started happening. All of the victims of the attack were civilians. Junta has been blamed for the attack on the camp and is described as a “war crime and crime against humanity”. There has been no fighting take place near the camp in recent years but the area has witnessed conflict. The KIA is a political group of ethnic Kachins in Northern Myanmar. The attack was close to the KIA’s headquarters in the town of Laiza. The KIA battle against the military has been an ongoing challenge for decades.
In the past, 60 people were killed when the military launched air strikes in the Kachin State. And now a total of 56 people have been injured and 44 had been taken the hospital in the latest attack.
