In Mali, the Tuareg separatist rebel group killed 80 of Mali's soldiers and the group now claims they have overtaken the city of Bamba. This goes back to a 2015 peace deal between the government and the rebel group that ultimately fell through. Despite claiming they are for peace, the rate of Mali citizens being attacked by the group has gone up 38%. Ultimately, the group says they want independence for Northern Mali from the rest of the country.
